NON DIMITTO MEUM CONATUM.
SUMUNC'26
Letter From The Secretaries-General
An apple takes one hundred to two hundred days to fruit from a ripe tree, and almost eight years from a mere sprout. This year, SUMUNC’26 is not just going to be the apple or even the tree that it grew on, but rather it will signify the birth of a large, luscious orchard, stretching its sprouts and fruit far beyond where it once grew.SMK Subang Utama is just one out of the many government schools located in the Petaling Perdana district of Selangor, and yet it stands strong and proud for thirty-seven years. Our Model United Nations Conference, forged from the hard work placed by our seniors almost seven years before, proved to instill the values and knowledge to all of us students — this conference is not merely a platform to talk about global issues and the socioeconomic state of the world, it has proven that students can actually work together with our teachers to build something new from scratch.Over the several months of planning, we have poured our love and care into our conference. Finally, this year, 2026, will be a return to the physical and in-person style of MUN that we all know and love. It will be the culmination of not only the hard work that my Deputy Secretary General, Rishvitha, has placed in our conference, or even my own efforts and hardships faced during the months leading up to the conference, but rather the unity and love for MUN that brews within our own secretariat team.We are so fortunate to have gathered such a wonderful team that can ensure that this year’s conference will be one that is made for the Model United Nations enjoyers and even our fellow students. We wish to promote the art of Model United Nations to our classmates and our peers and encourage them to step out of their comfort zone.If there’s anything conclusive to this wall of text, it’s that if you are reading this, you are the perfect person to benefit off of our conference. So if you haven’t already signed up, we are still open and accepting people! Try your luck and enjoy this three-day conference to maybe meet new people, old friends, or even make some while you’re sitting in that council room. If there’s one thing TikTok videos taught me, remember: Be bold, be original, be <title card>,And you too, might become one of those lucky two hundred delegates that get to enjoy the “fruits” of our labour.Warmest regards,
Ayden Thein Jun Kit & Rishvitha A/P

SUMUN is..?
Subang Utama Model United Nations, or SUMUN, is an organisation formed under the mandate of the English Society of SMK Subang Utama. It is the heart of a small but thriving community of individuals within the school, passionate about current global issues, that is active in the Malaysian MUN scene and seeks to attend conferences all around the country.SUMUN aims to expose secondary-school students to pressing global issues and to provide a platform for them to discuss and debate these matters and their wider impact. Through this, we hope to create individuals who can not only speak publicly and debate, but can also think critically, perform effective research, and work well with others to draft a variety of policy solutions for difficult world issues. We sincerely hope that our efforts will contribute towards building the youth of today into stronger, more confident individuals, which in turn creates a proactive, well-informed, and vigilant society. In our position as one of few MUN Clubs based in a government school, SUMUN also aspires to become a proponent of MUN towards other government schools within the Subang Jaya area. To achieve that, we hope to encourage students from neighbouring schools to partake in our activities. We ultimately hope to establish a network of local schools that can cooperate and frequently exchange ideas.
